MODSBURY
PARK will
be an annual Alternative music-based event in the culturally reinvigorated
Asbury Park. MODSBURY
PARK is the brain child of original
"Garage Revival" enthusiast Mick "London" Hale. The event will kick-off
with 2 days of "Mod/Garage/Sixties/Psyche & Retro Sounds" based out
ov 2 area locations: The Saint
& The Asbury Lanes.
MODSBURY
PARK patrons who will be coming from out
of town are encouraged to mention "MODSBURY
PARK" when booking hotel info at the
following suggested accommodations: EMPRESS
HOTEL (@ Paradise), or BERKELEY
CARTERET (both within walking distance of both venues!). Further
info on "MODSBURY
PARK Hotel discounts" will be made
available as soon as the details are (near being) ironed out. 3 hip
Asbury Shoppes (on Cookman Avenue) have been added to the "pre-game" festivities...
The House Of Modern Living, Ruby and Allan & Suzie
will all be co-promoting and awaiting the influx of "retro-minded" shoppers
on Saturday & Sunday. All 3 shoppes feature Sixties & Mod
Styled items -- Clothing, Shoes & Home Furnishings.
BACKGROUND/BIO
INFO:
During the MOD FUN "break", Mick Hale went on to form CROC SHOP (a more "Alternative Dance" styled act who released 13 cds thru the 90's and into '04). Hale also DJ-ed for 7 years in New Brunswick's "Underground" scene at nightclubs The Roxy & The Melody. In 1998, Hale moved to the Asbury area, now residing in Ocean Grove and working "by day" in the graphics/printing field just outside Red Bank. CROC SHOP continues and Hale will follow-up the MODSBURY PARK event in September with an October 9th gig with C.S at NYC's The BATCAVE (the 60's references just don't stop, do they?)
